Why Sawai

Sawai Hospitality is a group of four heritage properties in Rajasthan, run by the same family across two cities: Fort Barli near Ajmer, and Dera Rawatsar and Dileep Kothi in Jaipur, with a fourth property, The Umaid Vilas in Jaipur, currently under restoration. The group was incorporated in 2022, but the family's hospitality history goes back further.

It started in 2006, when the Late Rani Sahiba Sushila Kumari Ji of Barli began restoring her ancestral fort. That restoration became Fort Barli, carried through by Anirudh Singh Rawatsar and Mandvi Ranawat. Fort Barli and Dileep Kothi are today run by the 16th generation of the Barli royal lineage, with three generations of the family actively involved in running the properties day to day. Divyraj Singh Karansar leads Sawai Hospitality since its 2022 incorporation, alongside Nityasri Rathore, Devraj Singh Karansar, and Satkriti Singh.

At each property, guests deal directly with the family that owns it. Meals are cooked from family recipes, heritage tours are led by people with a personal connection to the property's history, and the stories guests hear come from the family itself rather than a standard hotel script.
